web disk

I had not been in my CPanel for a while and I noticed webdisk, looks pretty cool,

how ever I know file storage is against TOS.

but I seen in another post where Kayla posted that personal backups are ok of files , documents and such, which is what I would use it for.

now I know there is an abuse issue if you use xx% of your accoutn for it.

however I am on a promo plan where my MAIN domain is unlimited on space and bandwidth.

just looking for clarification here

and Happy Thanksgiving all!

Hi,

Here is the quote from our acceptable use policy in regards to backup storage:

Quote:
User agrees to only use shared hosting services for its intended applications. Misuses include scientific/grid/distributed computing, data warehouse/backup storage, or bandwidth sinks. SurpassHosting.com, LLC will be the sole arbiter to what is considered a misuse of service. User agrees to ask SurpassHosting.com, LLC in the event they are unsure of their application's fitness for our shared hosting services.
OFC a few documents and miscellaneous items are fine, but when your account becomes a replacement for an external hard disk then we would be obligated to notify you.

Thanks for the reply, this appears to be a HUGE grey area, I mean the application is included in Cpanel, and I see what you posted however this is also below it
Quote:
Multimedia files are defined as any graphics, audio, and video files. Surpass Hosting Web Hosting accounts are not to be used for the purposes of distributing and storing unusual amount of multimedia files. Any Web site whose disk space usage for storing the multimedia files exceed 70% of its total usage, either in terms of total size or number of files, will be deemed to be using unusual amount of multimedia files.
Graphics should also include pictures,

I also have to laugh I was wrong about the unlimted, I had an issue so i asked about my package, here are the replys I got from support.....in order they were recieved

Quote:
you are on the Bronze Package, which consists of 50 GB of Disk Space and 50 TB of monthly bandwidth.

The next reply was

Quote:
You are currently hosting with one of our Legacy Bronze (Reseller) Package for $xx.xx a month, which has the following resources:

40GB of disk space
4000GB of Bandwidth
But I asked my main account i do remember had some sort of special space

Quote:
Thank you for your reply. You actually receive 5 GB of complimentary disk space and 200 GB of monthly bandwidth as a courtesy. The rest of your accounts get to use the disk space and bandwidth that I previously mentioned.
so, I could actually store about 2 GB of pictures and such and still be ok.....according to what I posted above, then again, based on the different answers I got above I might get a different answer from each person I ask

Regarding the complimentary space, this is a courtesy provided by Surpass to reseller clients. You purchase your reseller account, and you have your set space. You are then provided with the complimentary space to host your main domain. For example, your hosting company is thehost.com. Your cPanel account for http://www.thehost.com is in the complimentary space, with it's own cPanel login, while all of your clients accounts are owned by thehost.com, and are inside of your reseller package. You can request that your main domain (thehost.com) be moved into your reseller account, forfeiting your complimentary space.

However, you can simply setup an account using a subdomain and utilize your larger space, with your main domain. For example, you could create a new account in WHM with the domain as http://images.thehost.com, and you can then put your image files (or other files that you foresee using a large amount of bandwidth) into this account, which will draw from your larger quota, not your complimentary space.

If you need further clarification, please let us know
