Client Hosting Setup Time

How long does it take to actually setup the hosting account and it is actually ready to use?

I am using WHMCS. I am currently working on setting up all of the accounts I need for my personal websites to see how it goes.

Thanks!

Chris

I should clarify the message a bit. An account including hosting has been setup using either the URL provided for the package (WHMCS) or manually created in the Admin area of WHMCS.

How long does it take to actually setup the hosing so that it is usable (ftp, etc.) after creating the account and adding the product/package? I will need to add that information to the welcome message, and packages, etc.

In WHMCS you can set it to either create a package as soon as a payment is confirmed by the system or you could just to manually confirm all payments and accounts (recommended).

As soon as you confirm and activate the account in WHMCS it will plugin to WHM and create the account for you (if you set up the cpanel module) and e-mail the client. It is usable as soon as it is created in WHM. Only by the IP address of the server though, until the domain they signed up with is pointing there.

I think that answers the question you have. If not let me know.

Maybe to build on what Dan said; either way you do it, there is no delay. If you configure WHMCS to create an account upon payment receipt, the account creation will be seamless and instant for the end user with no work on your part, provided they pay their invoice immediately. If they sign up and wait 2 hours to pay their invoice, the account will be created and details will be sent to them 2 hours after sign up when they pay the invoice and it gets marked closed by the system.

If you configure WHMCS for manual activation, the client signs up for an account at 1:30pm, and you receive an email saying a new order was placed. You log in to WHMCS at 2:15pm and review the order, see that they paid via Paypal with a confirmed account, and click "accept this order"*, and as soon as you click that button, the account is created and the user receives an email.

* - I don't have my WHMCS configured this way, so I don't know the exact process for approving accounts, but that's the jist of it.
