Question What are my Options for more speed.

Hi ya Folks.

I used to be a multi POWER plan user. Many different surpasshosting single power sites. After a few years, I merged them together under one Reseller's account.

I am noticing that the responce time for all the web sites are slower than what was on the other POWER accounts/servers. I sometimes type in the address of any of the sites and they take 15-20 seconds before starting to load. where all other websites and forums I go to are FAST.

I don't run very complicated sites or popular sites. I dont' even approach 1% of the alloted bandwidth and storage. I relalize that I am sharing a server... no problems... but I don't know if it is just my other co-tennants of the server that is slowing me down... or if my server is just not a very fast one.... or if there is a kink in the network cable ;-) ..

I don't mind paying more (I am on a silver plan, and really don't need more bandwidth or storage space, just speed.) One of my friends have a CMS website and the FCK editor just takes 30 seconds to load. Painful. But other FCK editors don't seem to take nearly that long.

AM I just expecting more than I should... Could my load times of 5-15 on the WHM page be too much? (I don't even know what those numbers mean)...

What are my options?

Surpass All the WAY!!!

Hello Currell,

I'm sorry to hear of the lack of speediness. At times, in a shared environment, when everyone's on, everyone's checking e-mail, and in general, the server is busy, performance can take a hit. Now, most of our servers are 8/16-core servers, so they don't generally want for processing power, but when you factor in the hundreds of e-mails going in and out of the server, each that can be forwarded, cc'd, and copied to any number of addresses, along with mail being sent off the server, people making modifications to their accounts using cPanel, quotas being fixed, server maintenance, and hundreds of sites being resolved at any one time, even powerful servers can be stressed. Has this behavior been a constant and continued example? Can you provide any specific domains that are particularly slow?

I have backed up, using cpanel backup, the www [.] doverbay [.] ca website and subdomains and databases.
367 MB.

then using IE is clicked on the link and am downloading the tar.gz file. I am getting 39.7kb/Sec 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Currently I am using a dsl connection and regularly get my 300kb/sec speed when downloading large files.

am getting load averages usually from 10-15 when things are slow for hours on end.
