I am making this suggestion again........
Please forward to the owners of Surpass.......

The reseller forum should be PRIVATE!
Only resellers and surpass support/moderators be able to access the reseller forum.
The discussion in the forum should be "anything goes". Resellers should be able to say exactly what they think, in order for surpass to either respond or plan for future changes to improve service.

again please forward to Surpass development team........

That is a great suggestion Mrmax! :bananadance:

Come on Surpass, this would be very easy to implement with Invision Board.

Although I agree somewhat, I did make my final decision about buying Surpass hosting because of my readings in the forum. It is somewhat annoying that so many people come here to get their issues resolved when there are many other resources out there.

I like open forums. I am a subscriber to many of them. I've resolved some of my issues by reading from other forums.

I guess I didn't add much to this discussion either way did I?

Sure you did Bebop. You brought up a valid point and made me have second thoughts.

One solution would be to have a forum section for Resellers with 1 or 2 open categories, and at least one category that is private.

If that was done there would be twice as much work on the BBS. Answers in the resellers forum that none resellers could learn from would be shielded from the info, and the non-resellers that are smart on subjects wont see questions to answer them.
Then the Moderators would have more work separating the users. I think the system is stressed enough.

I can see the PMs now, " I have been waiting 2 days to get in the reseller forum area, can someone help me "

Well I would go with my first suggestion, the reseller area would be completely private.
Actually, this is a PHP forum, you should be able to "activate reseller forum access" for a new signed up reseller, the same as you activate his reseller account. Even so an email can be setup automatically to be send when he signs up for his reseller account, the email instructs a forum moderater to create the forum reseller access.

FEEDBACK can only help a company that wants to grow and build it's network of resellers.

Here is an example:
I am trying to setup demo version of account management and automation software. I need shell access activated. This is for the resller business. I send an email to supportsurpasshosting.com. The reply is from the hostdime tech support people, saying, " go to Hostdime and pay extra for shell access.

1. I am a Surpass customer.
2. I am a Surpass reseller acct. you can't setup certain programs to help run your reseller business without shell access, therefore that should be automatic in the account setup, or a simple email for activation.
3. I sent this email very early AM, I check email this afternoon, and get that reply. I lose another day. I'm trying to get everything in place this month, and I keep getting delayed, with various problems when I have to rely on help from Surpass. Everything eventually gets taken care of but the delays, prevent work from advancing.

So my point is, as a reseller for surpass, I am commited to building my business around surpass and have to rely on surpass in order for my business to be successful. Surpass can only gain by creating a private reseller forum where resellers talk about exactly what is right and what is wrong. This peer to peer exchange of ideas, problems, successes should encourage Surpass to pay attention when things are wrong and multiple resellers are complaining in the forum. In fact Surpass and Surpass resellers are collaborating to achieve success. But if we can not say openly what the problems and have our posts deleted, because Surpass wants only a favorable impression coming out of the public forum, that level of forum support isn't very helpful to most resellers.

just my 2cents

MrMax, we thank you for your suggestion, but we know all too well the importance of feedback.

That is why we have the email addresses,

resellerssurpasshosting.com
feedbacksurpasshelp.com

We take careful notice to the emails we get there, and we act upon the ideas of our clients. We are a small company still and we know what needs to be done, it's just a matter of finding all of the time.

And EliteGeeks is correct as usual, it would not be possible to make a private reseller forum. That would be extremely time consuming. We have those email addresses I mentioned above for a reason. A quick note goes a long way with us.
