Why are Surpass servers so clean?
When we put up a new shared web server and customers begin to sign up, we stop allowing new accounts on that particular server when the user count reaches approximately 150. We take a look at the activity on the server and sometimes cap off at 120, it depends on the server.
Another important aspect to note is that shared hosting plan holders on go onto shared servers. People who sign up for reseller plans only go on reseller servers. This makes for an easier and more organized service. Since reseller plan holders are creating additional accounts, we put about 35 accounts initially on reseller servers. The majority of new accounts on a server are brand new websites and domain names that have yet to be developed. Some accounts on the server even sit for months before they are touched at all, things happen in life, we all know! However, a lot of sites have been transferred from other hosting companies and are already quite active and widely used sites. Perhaps the site is just getting busy, or is already moderately active. Sometimes within a few days we start to see problems and we know that site should have never been on a shared server in the first place. The fact is they probably just signed up with us because their previous host told them the same thing. Some sites get to a point where they need their own machine or at least a VPS solution. Some people do not want to go that route (or may not be able to at all) so they keep moving to other hosts to see if it will work out, and most of the time it won't. Many sites that are very active in use usually have users that help pay for the service or send in donations and that can help pay for a private server. To be continued! |
