[Article] Internal Server Errors
What it is
An Internal Server Error (500) is a type of error that is generated by your web server. The server doesn't know exactly what is wrong, but something is not working correctly, so the web server must halt. Most Internal Server Errors write to an error log located on the web server, for more information on the issue. Causes Internal Server Errors can be caused by the following things: * Incorrect file/folder permissions. * Malformed coding in a .htaccess or similar language file. There of course are other internal issues that could cause an Internal Server Error. Troubleshooting The first thing you will want to do when you encounter an Internal Server Error, is to log into your cPanel ( http:// domain. com/ cpanel ) and check your error logs. The error logs can point you in the right direction on what might be causing the problem. Such as a folder/file with incorrect permissions. If you have recently uploaded a .htaccess file, try removing it and see if the problem still occurs. If the problem still occurs, then there is more then likely another issue causing the problem. Also be sure to note any recent updates or changes that you have made to your website before the error started to occur. If you are still having problems after troubleshooting, you can submit a ticket to support for help. http://desk.surpasshosting.com/ |
