[Photoshop Tutorial] Creating Thumbnails
Here is a short and easy to get tutorial on creating a thumbnail image in Photoshop. This is for those who have large images, that they would like to scale down so that people can see a sample of it and click to view a larger preview.
Ok, open the image that you would like to scale down to size in PS. I'm using a screen shot I took of surmunity. At the top menu in Photoshop, click where it says 'Image' and scroll down to where it says 'Image Size'. Click it. In the image size window, you will notice the original height of the image you are using. Something I usually do, to keep the quality of the image the same is by knocking down the first or first two if it goes about 1,000, numbers in the width and height dimensions and replacing it with either 1-5. This will scale it down, but keep the original "dimensions" of the image. You will also have to make sure that Constrain Proportions and Scale Styles are selected. Now, if you'd like for it to be a set width and height, all you have to do is uncheck Constrain Proportions and Scale Styles and then set in your own width and height. Done, that's all it takes. Below I have an example for both a Constrain Proportions and Scale Styles checked image and a set width and height thumbnail with Constrain Proportions and Scale Styles unchecked. |
