[Article] When Using Scripts...

...

Make sure to keep all scripts up-to-date! An old script can sometimes cause a lot of problems, especially since developers create new versions, because the older versions had security holes that hackers found. So always make to sure upgrade your scripts to the newest possible version.

Be weary of downloading from 3rd party sites! Going to a website that has a list of download-able scripts from their website, but the creator is someone else other then website's owner, be sure to look up any user reviews or information on the website before downloading the script. Sometimes website owners can put malicious coding with the scripts and hack into your server through that. So always make sure first that they can trusted.

Make sure to use hard to figure out passwords! whether it be for your login or even database password. Making it super tricky can keep your scripts and server very secure.

Be sure to know what you are doing before editing anything some scripts can come coding in either HTML, PHP, JavaScript, or even Ajax, be sure you know which one it is before messing with anything, don't want to accidentally break something and mess up your whole site.

Know the good from the bad! Be sure to look up on reviews for certain scripts that you find, its better to know that your getting a well written script that's safe and secure then a dodgy one that someone in the end had to scrap or fix themselves. You can basically anything on the internet, so it won't be a problem.
