[Tutorial] Using Gallery
Gallery is a very easy to use and powerful gallery program that you can easily install in no time through Fantastico. In this tutorial I will show you how to install and use the key features within Gallery, to help you get a jump start at the program.
![]() Installing Gallery Once logged into your Cpanel, locate the category named Software/Services. There you will see the Fantastico De Luxe icon. ![]() In Fantastico, scroll down to the category Image Galleries and click on the last link name Gallery. ![]() You will then be taken to the Gallery overview page where you can see all current installations active and also if any installations need an upgrading, you will also see it here. Click on the New Installation link. ![]() On the next page you will be asked to fill out the login details you would like and also where you would like the gallery files to be installed under. Whether you'd like it on your root domain under a directory or sub-domain is all up to you. ![]() The next page will show you the process of what is being made for your new Gallery installation. Click continue when you are ready to do so. ![]() The last page will show you everything that was created and configured. Also it will show you your login details and the link to the website. You are even able to email yourself these directions/information. Very convenient for backup, just in case you forget your login details. ![]() Adding Images When going to the link provided for you at the end of the installation, you are taken directly to the gallery page. Here is where you will easily add your photos. As you can see, in the middle of the page is the link, Add Photos. Click it. ![]() You have a few options on how to upload images onto your new gallery. ![]() While some may come in handy, lets stick to the very simple and stay in the tab labeled: From Web Broswer. This way we can easily browse images from our computer and upload directly. Simple no? Once you are done finding two images to upload, click on the add items link below. ![]() You will then be taken to the upload complete page, showing you that the files you uploaded, did successfully. From here you can also add more images by clicking the add more files links below. ![]() Adding an Album On the left hand navigation bar, you will see the link called, Add Album. Click it. ![]() On the next page it will ask for a directory name for the folder that this album will be created as. Choose something related to the topic or call it album1, whatever helps you more, then finish filling out the rest of the input fields. Click the create button at the end. ![]() Once the album has been created, you will be taken to the settings page for it. Here you can setup the settings you would like the album to have, whether it be a certain thumbnail size to rating, or image blocking. ![]() Site Admin The moment you have been waiting for...or not. Haha. Here is where you will edit all the settings for your entire gallery setup. From General settings to uploading certain things through different applications. I will give you the step-by-step on the most important features under your controls and how they work. ![]() Lets start off by visiting the Gallery category. Here you will notice quite the long list for you to choose from. I will discuss the most important ones from each list before going to a new category. Captcha The captcha feature in Gallery is a great tool for keeping spam away from your gallery. Be sure to set the levels to the way you'd like or leave it default, as they are already at an OK setting. ![]() More to come soon! |
