[Article] Account Suspension

The most common reason an account is Suspended are as follows:

* Late Payment
* Resource Abuse
* Script Exploit

Surpass Hosting enforces the Good Neighbor Policy on it's Shared Environment Servers. Surpass Hosting reserves the right to suspend your account without prior notice. This is simply to protect other clients that are on the same server as you. For instance, if someone is exploiting your website through an old script, it may cause the server load to go up. This would affect every one on the server. Therefore, to protect everyone else, your account will be suspended.

The only way to resolve your suspension is to submit a ticket to the Help Desk which is available 24/7.

Resource Abuse

The Term Resource Abuse does not imply that you intentionally caused something bad to happen. Instead, Resource Abuse refers to a situation in which the allowable resource limits have been breached in relation to the terms of the Surpass Hosting Agreement.

Most of the time Resource Abuse is unintentional but it stems back to negligence especially if you are running really old scripts that have never been updated. In many other instances Resource Abuse occurs because your website has outgrown a Shared Environment and needs to move onto something more suitable like a Dedicated Server.

Prevent Resource Abuse

There is no sure way to protect your Account from Resource Abuse but you can take steps to help prevent it:

* Subscribe to mailing lists that update you of Recent Releases/Updates of any Scripts that you may be running.
* Use a Strong Password and change it often.
* Avoid Sloppy Coding
