Benz (72.29.73.247) : Shared
This thread is a timeline for all events occuring to the server Benz.
Each time this server has an issue it will be posted here. If you cannot access your site, and there is no announcement here, the reason for it is not caused by this server or our network. You must email support[at]surpasshosting.com to find the root of your problem. Thank you. Benz is located in our data center in Orlando, Florida, USA. 1. Weekly backups are performed on Sunday. 2. We will MANUALLY update cPanel to STABLE builds only. This will ensure that our custom skin, modifications and installations are retained. As of today these are the specs: root[at]benz [~]# w 23:53:07 up 8 days, 2:10, 1 user, load average: 1.25, 1.41, 1.44 Processor Info Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.40GHz Processor #1 speed: 2405.508 MHz Processor #1 cache size: 512 KB Processor #2 Vendor: GenuineIntel Processor #2 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.40GHz Processor #2 speed: 2405.508 MHz Processor #2 cache size: 512 KB Processor #3 Vendor: GenuineIntel Processor #3 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.40GHz Processor #3 speed: 2405.508 MHz Processor #3 cache size: 512 KB Processor #4 Vendor: GenuineIntel Processor #4 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.40GHz Processor #4 speed: 2405.508 MHz Processor #4 cache size: 512 KB Memory Information Memory: 1551056k/1572800k available (1814k kernel code, 21320k reserved, 360k data, 304k init, 655296k highmem) System Information Linux benz.hddns.com 2.4.26-ow3 #2 SMP Wed Sep 8 21:39:53 EDT 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux |

I don't know what happened to our move post, but here it is a little late:
Benz has been moved to our data center and upgraded to a dual Xeon 2.4gig system. This should provide much better performance and stability. Anyone using an IP address to login to cpanel, whm, mail, ftp, etc will now need to use the new IP address of 66.194.239.131. If you domain happens to be using custom nameservers (IE: ns1.yourdomain.com, ns2.yourdomain.com) you will need to update these with the new IPs are your register to: ns1. 66.194.239.132 ns2. 66.194.239.133 If you are not using custom nameservers, no changes need to be done on your part. Please note, this will make your accounts appear to be reset by a few days, so if you need any files re-transferred since we started the move, please email support surpasshosting.com with your domain name and make mention that you are on Benz. Thanks

This server seems to be having some problems right now. You'll notice FTP is down, that is due to the load and some services halting to keep the system stable. Looking into this now.
------- About 7 minutes later, the server was running normally again. There was actually a problem with the MySQL server and it is now resolved. Thank you. |

Tonight, previous versions of phpBB (using a database that read 2.0.14 or older) were disabled on this server. This was done so they cannot be used by outsiders to spam or launch any attacks. "Disabled" as in if you visit your /forum path, you will see a message instructing you to perform an upgrade to 2.0.16. We thank you for your cooperation and help during this clean up operation. The majority of the installations were installed more than a year ago and left behind. Due to all of the various versions and the amount of servers that need to be "patched" a mass system scan was basically our only solution. What will result from this clean up? Optimized server performance! Please help us in keeping all programs up to date.
On Benz: 62 vulnerable forum paths were disabled ![]() Fantastico in your cPanel contains version 2.0.16. Optionally you can visit, http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php |

If you use any of the following scripts:
FA-PHPHosting PHPClique PHPCalendar PHPCurrently PHPFanBase PHPQuotes Please disable them immediately or use the fix specified below. There are serious exploits going around the net right now and have been for the past few months. All of these scripts are made by http://codegrrl.com/ and have a ridiculously easy hole in them: " include($logout_page);" This allows an attacker to include whatever code they wish into the php file and run the commands. To avoid getting your site defaced, we recommend you either remove the protection.php file asap, or edit it and remove that line above. |
