We have a strong feeling SH69 has either a bad drive or bad hard drive connector cable.

Everytime a CPU intensive process begins the load just jumps. This means that the read and write process on the drive is heavy. The load shouldn't go up that much, but it does. That is what we have gathered.

This weekend we will replace the server hardware first and rule that out and if it continues Sunday, April 30, 2005, we will take it down for 3 hours to move data to a new drive.

I apologize for all the newbies on that server. Rest assured we are not ignoring these issues.

We apologize for the short notice, however there is a need to move your server from it's current rack location, to a new rack location
in our data center. We are doing some power design re-engineering. Please plan for a 2-3 hour downtime window from 4am EST
to 7am EST June 26 2005

If you use any of the following scripts:

FA-PHPHosting
PHPClique
PHPCalendar
PHPCurrently
PHPFanBase
PHPQuotes

Please disable them immediately or use the fix specified below. There are serious exploits going around the net right now and have been for the past few months. All of these scripts are made by http://codegrrl.com/ and have a ridiculously easy hole in them:

include($logout_page);
"
This allows an attacker to include whatever code they wish into the php file and run the commands.
To avoid getting your site defaced, we recommend you either remove the protection.php file asap, or edit it and remove that line above.

SH69 needed a reboot and upon restarting, a FSCK needed to be performed. The server should be back up very shortly.

I apologize about the bad news. As many of you might have noticed sh69 has been having load issues. We have been trying to find the root cause and it has now been concluded the main drive was having issues thus any process would increase the load.

We have installed a new server with cpanel/centos and are currently restoring the data. We expect this to take 6-8 hours. We apologize for the short notice but it needs to be down now to ensure integrity of the system.

We will update you when it is completed

Sunday night, June 15th we will be enabling PHP SuExec and upgrading PHP and MySQL to version 5 on sh69.surpasshosting.com.

There will be some minimum downtime past 12am EST.
