This thread is a timeline for all events occuring to the server SH71.

Each time this server has an issue it will be posted here.

If you cannot access your site, and there is no announcement here, the reason for it is not caused by this server or our network. You must email support[at]surpasshosting.com to find the root of your problem.

sh71 is our newest server right now. You have recently signed up using our hosting service. I regret to inform you that the drive on the server your site is hosted on, has just had a hard drive failure. We are still examining the issue to get the drive restored.

I know this is not a good start but we assure you we are working on the issue and will keep you informed of the progress.

Good news.

We got the drive to run a file system check and all data is restored without no loss.

Its being copied to new drive now so we won't risk it on the drive which spit out errors.

ETA less then 90 minutes if all goes well

If you use any of the following scripts:

FA-PHPHosting
PHPClique
PHPCalendar
PHPCurrently
PHPFanBase
PHPQuotes

Please disable them immediately or use the fix specified below. There are serious exploits going around the net right now and have been for the past few months. All of these scripts are made by http://codegrrl.com/ and have a ridiculously easy hole in them:
"

include($logout_page);
"
This allows an attacker to include whatever code they wish into the php file and run the commands.
To avoid getting your site defaced, we recommend you either remove the protection.php file asap, or edit it and remove that line above.

Thursday night, June 19th we will be enabling PHP SuExec and upgrading PHP and MySQL to version 5 on sh71.surpasshosting.com.

There will be some minimum downtime past 12am EST.
