ok... this may sound stupid, but what exactly does PHP Nuke allow you to do? I read their FAQ and got the idea that it's sort of a user system to allow people to submit stuff to the site, or is that completely off?
what I basically want to do is be able to update my site layout and navigation links etc. without having to edit every .html page, since I have the navigation + content on the same page, and I don't want to use frames or anything. I really don't know much about PHP, but is that possible to do w/ PHP Nuke, and if not is there another easy way to do this? having to edit every single page each time I update the layout or navigation is getting to be a pain, and I know there must be an easier way to do it, I just havent learned it yet <_< |

PHPNuke is a Content Management System (CMS) and is a very nice one at that. The best thing is visit phpnuke.org and take a look around. There are several "modules" that you can add to the system to add functionality. The basics is it uses phpBB as a forum piece of software, has a downlaods section and a web links section - at least those are the areas I found most useful.
I do run a phpnuke site and really enjoy using that system. I have been able to modify it to the way I want it to be. However, a CMS is not really for eveyone and there are otherways to accomplish the same results. You should really ask, what do I want the web site to do? Static? Push information out? Provide a mesage/photo forum? -Jay

I basically just want to be able to update the general site layout + navigation bar that's on my site anytime I want to without having to edit every single content page that I have... so I guess I just want to be able to change the "skin" or whatever easily. can PHP Nuke do that or is there an easier way to do this? I'm looking at PHPNuke.org right now but I can't find anything that talks about what I want to do specifically. or is that basically what a "Content Management System" means?
Edit: ok, I just started looking around the PHPWebsite site, and found this in the readme: Quote:

thank you for the link -- I checked it out & installed both PHP Nuke and PHP Website and realized neither were what I needed
![]() I think I found the code that I need, which is PHP Include... http://tutorials.php-princess.net/index.ph...php?p=22&more=1 so I just need to figure out how to use that sometime today and hopefully will get the result I need... I hope it's not too difficult since I don't really know much about coding in PHP  |

I suggest a good php book, if you plan on building your pages with PHP - outside of that, glad to hear that you found what you were looking for - PHPnuke is a bit heafty and is pretty much a one size fits all solution - where is all know one size does not fit all
