Transfering Files from Old Host
I just signed up, and I'm trying to transfer all my files from my old host over to my lovely new host. (That would be you.) I'm using FlashFXP, and when I try to transfer the files across, it doesn't work. I get errors like "425 Could not open data connection to port 60377: Connection refused" and "150 Accepted data connection 226-Options: -a -l 226 5 matches total" followed by "Transfer failed!" Is there any way to make this work, or do I need to move everything by hand? Thanks so much for your help!

Does your old host use cPanel? If so and you have a couple of days, support can transfer all your files for you. Or you could download a backup of your site and all databases and then upload that backup into your new cPanel. Otherwise I'm actually sure what you're attempting to do... But generally the backup/restore method (either yourself or getting support to do it for free) is what most people do.

Wow, thanks for getting back to me so quickly! My old host doesn't use cpanel. So I figured I'd just download my entire site, like you said, but then I realized that it's not that easy - it seems like I'd have to queue every folder individually instead of being able to do them all at once. Which I can do, but the lazyass in me was just hoping there was an easier way.

you're welcome, answering questions is better than writing an essay right now.
![]() Even if your other host doesn't have cpanel, they might have a way to download a backup of your entire site... I don't really know. When I moved over to Surpass, I took that as an oppurtunity to clear out all the junk off my site... but I did the manual download/upload of all my hostees folders, so I do know what it's like.

Greetings chapsticky,
Another option that you have is site to site transfer. It will transfer your files from your old ftp to your server on surpass. And when you using this technic ints not using your bandwith and thats will speed up the move.
