Hackec

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you all know that you might want to check your sites. My site on the Pilot server was recently hacked by some turkish do-dahs.

They wiped out my root directory (sub-folders and their files still intact) and installed an Index.html file and their .png logo. They also changed the password on my control panel. (It was easy enough to reset and get back in to assess the damage.)

I hope I was the only one hacked, but you might want to check your sites just to be sure.

I know. The title of the post should be "Hacked", not "Hackec". I am just so pissed I can't type straight.

Do you know how they got through? Most of the time it is through a script that was out of date (most of the turkish one's I've seen is through phpBB).

Always make sure to keep all scripts up to date

Sorry for the late reply, I was in Hong Kong for the weekend.

I am thinking they must have gone in through the Control Panel since they changed my password when they were there.

I don't have phpBB on my site and my other scripts I am pretty anal about keeping up to date. It was kind of rude of them to delete everything in my root web directory, but they are turkish script kiddies, so there is no accounting for manners.
