Upload limit?

I was just wondering if there is an upload limit?
I am trying to upload a 1gb file. And when it was suppose to be done, on the right hand side it will say if it was uploaded or not, the page said it couldn't display or something. And then I noticed this at the top of the upload page...

File uploads are restricted to prevent account issues caused by exceeding your file system quota

So is there a limit?

How are you uploading a file... FTP or HTTP?

There are limits in your own network and browsers....

If you try to upload a file that is bigger than your quota then it will fail i would presume.

from experience of uploading files over 2GB... i would upload through FTP being that most browsers time-out or have issues for whatever reason(more commonly router limitations) (although i too have had plenty of success uploading files larger than 1GB through http).

Does it upload faster through FTP too? Because a 250MB file uploading through the CP takes an hr. Which averages about 70kb/sec upload and I am on cable internet. I download around 900kb/sec-1mb/sec

Your upload speed is going to be determined by a lot of factors, mainly your ISP. Download speeds have no direct correlation to upload speeds and are completely independent of each other (in most instances). To know your max upload speed you would have to know the plan that you have with your ISP (i.e. comcast, timewarner, sbc/yahoo, etc). If you don't know right of the bat you can visit this website: http://www.speedtest.net to get a general idea of your upload speed to different parts of the country.

Typically (and this is based solely on my opinion and experience) FTP is faster. And I base this opinion on the "overhead" and additional web "layers" associated with http. Moreover, most web programmers/designers rely on FTP for file management/permissions.
