403 Error
Okay. I've tried to be really understanding about all the problems. I've been patient, and even have tried to help calm down other customers. But now all my sites are getting a 403 Forbidden error and I didn't do anything. Yesterday, I installed a SMF forum; I just uninstalled it in case that caused the problem, but who knows?
I'm so frustrated. Unlike the $1 users that have been screwing everything up, I paid full price for this. I've been with Surpass for about a week now, and have had more downtime than uptime. I can access my CPanel and I'm getting e-mail, but I didn't do anything to cause this, and there's nothing on any of my sites that should trigger a security measure. It's possible that maybe I can fix it through CPanel, but I have no idea how. I've put in a ticket, but tech has been really busy. I know I'll hear back, but I don't know when. If anyone has any constructive advice on how I might be able to fix this problem on my own through CPanel, that would be greatly appreciated.

They fixed it. I still don't know what happened, exactly, but I suspect that they increased security measures to combat the other problems, and somehow my sites triggered them? I don't know. My sites are clean and professional and I didn't violate the TOS.
Deep, cleansing breath. Anyway, if anyone is having the same problem, I can say that support responded much more quickly than I expected they would, so there is a ray of sunshine here. I just really, really need this to be my last problem. Fingers crossed!

Send in a ticket. I did that and it was about a half hour when they fixed it. The explanation I got was that they did an update to the server, and the update futzes with directory access in order to do the update, and sometimes it doesn't futz all the directories back properly. They were quick to respond and mine are back up now. Good luck!

I've woke up this morning to this problem also and noticed the permissions of public_html was set to 750 so I changed to 755 and got an internal server error. But, after reading this, maybe they should be set to 750 so I've changed them back.

The same it happened with me.
My site give a 403 error page. When I verified the permissions in public_html is set to 750. Then I set to 755 and the site return normal. Now I do not know what happened for the permissions to be modified. It would be good that they sameone of the support explained this. |
