Password Protect / Directory of Main Domain, but not Addon Domain.

Hi,

What I'm trying to accomplish, is password protecting the / directory of the main domain, however not the addon domain. Since the addon domain is a directory under public_html, it will also be password protected.

Hello Alan,

Simply create a .htaccess file in the addon domain's directory and put these 3 lines in it:

Code:
order deny,allow
allow from all
deny from none
That should work just fine

Wait, what are you trying to do exactly? Did you password protect your main directory above your public one? If so that will cause a lot of problems.
If you want to password protect a single directory then just do that one only. Your add_on domain should be in another separate directory that is on the same level as the password protected one.

Hmm, it worked fine for me when I did a test. What is your domain name, I will take a look at your setup.
