What's the deal? My 18 websites have been down 4 times in the last week or so. Every time I issue a ticket, someone makes various techno comments about what just happened. I can't find anyone who will solve the problem, just comments on why it went down this time.
This was my biggest fear in using Surpass: that being colocated on the same server with whoever they decide to add, that my sites would be down. But no, said the salesman. They constantly monitor the servers for this problem. If this is the case, then why do I have to alert them every time my sites are down? I have no peace of mind. I sit around checking my sites making sure they are running. You might say I'm very unhappy. Carl |

In a shared environment, that can happen. But you don't post a site URL or server information, so we - your peers out here in server land - can't check.

Bigjohn makes two valid points -- 1. it's a shared environment, there's no hosting company around that won't have some downtime in this type of setting; 2. without a link, we can't really help you as we don't know your websites.
If your responses in support tickets are just "techno babble" -- you are well within your rights to say, "I don't understand." I know I've done it. Support is there to help you and if their help isn't enough, you need to let them know that. Even if it is something as simple as how they are expressing the problem. Without feedback from you, how are they to know their point isn't getting across? On a totally different note -- the scrollbar in signatures is weird... I didn't really notice until I just saw how little of Bigjohn's you can see. -_- |

caton21559,
don't want to add to the fire but sometimes a site is blocked from access from a specific IP (range) due to the server firewall. Even if you can access your sites there may be users in other regions that cannot. I sometimes use Alerta Spotcheck but often it is a matter of reacting when an user complains he cannot access the site.

i agree with David, I would definitely test your sites from the alertra spotcheck and/or another anonymous proxy (i user http://anonymouse.org) to see if by chance your site is online from other locations. A trace route can also offer some more insight into the issues that your having and when provided to support we can better analyze what might be causing any issues.

I'm having issues too... They keep going down and then back up... They take sooo long to load. Here are my URLs:
http://hikaruhoshi.com http://dixonkeyclub.org http://queenofcupcake.com I've submitted tons of tickets, but all I've actually got that was relevant was this: From checking the logs, we found that the number of http connections to the server increases intermittently. This causes DOS attack. A denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to, motives for and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally comprises the concerted, malevolent efforts of a person or persons to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. I have no idea how to use that to fix my issue. |

We are having the same problems at http://vintageatc.com. Pages that were loading in 1-2 seconds yesterday are takeing a minute or longer to load today if they load at all.
