SH100 server load high

SH100 is up over 10 now also.
Anyone else noticing this?

Load's a little high right now, but all the services on the server are still responding quickly. Are you having a specific problem with your site, or are you posting because the load average is high at the moment?

Because my forum was sluggish and my ping was OK and when I saw the load was high I figured that it must be the culprit. Has been fairly high all day off and on.

Something is really wrong on this server. It is very erratic. Someone is doing something because it surges in server load very very high and then back down again all the time. But the surges slow everything down and they are frequent.

If a person were to check the server occasionally and they hit it right they might not see it, but if you watch it constantly or have some sort of software that monitors server load of a period of time it should show that server load goes way up and then way down and then way up and way down again and again fluctuating wildly in surges. But if you try to access the server during one of those surges forget it.

I was just monitoring it for about 15 minutes and it went as high as 21, then down to 8 back up to 20 then down to 3 and then leveled off at around 7 for a while before dropping to an aver age of 3.

Can something be done to find out who this is and smooth things out a bit?

Yeah, it bounces around quite a bit. I mean of course we expect some bouncing being on a shared server, but this really goes from feast to famine

Sometimes my site is pretty quick but then, 5 minutes later, it will be very slow and load will be very high. Sometimes over 20!

It would seem that something is causing inordinately high load in surges; but frequent surges. Sometimes very frequent surges. And if there are enough of them and are close enough together then it can make the server very random and flaky. But yet at the same time hard to detect because if you look at it a few minutes later it could be down, but then pop right back up.

Here we go again. Since my last post in this topic server load has never been less than 3. Usually it's about 5. Right now and for the past few minutes it's 12. Server is usually sluggish, not sometimes but usually.

I hate to submit tickets but I guess it is time to start bugging people

I hate to be a bug

It's not my nature, but someone on this server is using more than their fair share or there are too many people on this server.
