Addon Domains/PHP 5.2

Two problems...hopefully someone can help!
  1. I created a couple of addon domains. I have these domains registered and pointed to the correct DNS server at surpass. I added a joomla install to one of the domains. (ssisedu.com) When I go to this domain unless I add ssisedu.com/index.php I am sent to my main domain gbbert.com. Have I done something wrong? How can I make it so www.ssisedu.com takes me to my Joomla install instead of my main domain without having to add index.php?
  2. Will the shared domains be moving to php 5.2 soon?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

For your first question, you will need to create a subdomain with the exact same name as your add-on domain. (EX. Domain = website.com SubDomain = website.rootdomain.com) After that you have to make that your add-on domain points to the subdomain, you do this in the add-on domain page within your Cpanel. Then once you have that setup, you will upload all of your content into the folder that you made as the sub-domain.

I hope that is easy to understand, as for the second question, I'm not to sure and you'll have to wait for that answer.

Thanks,

When I created the addon domain I noticed that a subdomains was also created. So i have website.com and well as website.rootdomain.com. If I try to delete the subdomain. I am told that they are linked to the addon domain and I needed to first delete the add on domain. So I assumed when you create an add on domain a subdomain is created. Maybe I should have created the subdomains first?

Well if the sub-domain was already created, did you put your files into that folder? The only other reason for it not to work would be because you didn't put the files in the correct folder, you may have placed them in the root/public_html folder and not the sub-directory folder inside of the root folder.

Thanks for the reply Roxy,

This is what I did. I created the add on domain addondomain.com. After adding this domain I noticed that a a subdomain was created for the add on domain. I did a Joomla install to addondomain.com all of the joomla files are in addondomain.com. When I point my browser to addondomain.com/index.php i am taken to the correct joomla page. When I point my browser to addondomain.com I end up at my rootdomain.com.

I guess I am still doing something wrong.

Gary
