I have to agree here. If I could subscribe 50 email addresses it won't do no good if surmunity is down also. There needs to be a mailing list notice system that is in place from another network that can be used to send out urgent notices that includes any (un)scheduled downtime on servers or the network in general. It would be nice if I would only get notices of the servers that affect me but if I had to get notices of ANY server weather I am on it or not I would still rather see that than nothing at all.

Surmunity is still up and down I think it is still database related. It has not made my job any easier today.. or yours. I am sorry about that.
I was advised to subscribe to announcements for my server thread - however they are NEVER updated! Even now.

The server threads are for serious issues like if the server needs to be restored or for extended downtime.

Issues that can be considered more than serious, in fact major, are only put in the Announcements area.

Well isn't that one of the great uses for Twitter? I use it to keep my web design clients updated on just this exact kind of thing. Twitter isn't dependent on any of SH's servers being up or down, and anyone can subscribe. Heck, it even dials my cell phone when Twitterers I am following post an update so .. SH has a twitter account and if all else fails, post updates or outages there, huh? One post, goes out to everyone who subscribes. Of course the onus would be on the SH customer to sign up to get Twitter alerts. Just my $0.02.
