Red face extremely SLO-OoO-OW loading

hello! my website AABSOLUT.NET is a very image-heavy blog, and i'm wondering why my images always take a longer time than usual to load? at first i thought it was my internet connection, but when i visit other image-heavy sites, it loads fine.

i'm not sure if this is the right place to be posting this, but if there's nothing that can be done about this i might have to switch hosting companies. or.. maybe it's wordpress' fault. i don't know. eek. i've had wonderful support from surpass so far and i really dont want to switch but it seems only recently that my image-heavy posts are taking quite long to load. can anyone help? thanks so much.

First off do you really need images that are 2136x3216 in size? I see most of them are 1500x996 but that is still huge for internet type images.

Those aren't really internet friendly images for any type of connection.

I don't really think it's the server that's holding up the loading process, those images are just too big for as many as you have per page.

IF you think wordpress may be the issue than try disabling all of your plugins to see if it helps speed things up.

i've removed the links to the original images, so now what's showing on the page are images that are 300 in width. it still seems rather slow though. the reason my images are so huge is because they're shot with a dslr - the original images are twice that size. photography is important to me and i don't really downsize my photos too much.

i will give the plugins a shot, but yet there are some that i absolutely need. perhaps i'll try hosting my images on flickr and see what happens.

I agree with Twist3d, it's not the server or Surpass in anyway. It's the fact all those pictures are so large and the page is loading so many 1MB+ sized photos. No matter where you go, you will have that same problem. I would suggest using a photo editor to resize them to your desired size, that would decrease the file size tremendously and make them faster loading.

i guess uploading it onto flickr before posting them now is the only option? i stress that i cannot afford to reduce my photos to 300, unless i make a separate file for thumbnails. thanks for all your input.

You can still upload images with wordpress. A decent size would be something like 640x480. That's what I use anyways as a standard and it works great.

NP, Just trying to help. I hope you get it all figured out.

From what I can tell though it is loading a bit faster now though.
