China/Taiwan IP Spam!
A few weeks ago, I noticed an odd referring link in my stats page and so I decided to check it out. I realized that they were hotlinking to a file on my server and immediately setup hotlinking protection to break the link as well as redirecting the actual folder so they couldn't access the files that way.
This, however, hasn't stopped the spamming from the "spiders/bots" that have been crawling my site from those links. All the IP's are coming from China and Taiwan, and blocking the ones I noticed the most via Control Panel did nothing because well...the IPs change. Is there any way I can just block the entire country? And if so, how do I go about doing that! |

I can't help there, I just thought it was funny that you want to block china from seeing your website. Usually it's the other way around, china likes to block anybody from seeing many websites in that country

Where are the requests going to? Is this traffic going to a Topsite script by any chance?

I guess if you can figure out some IP ranges that came from China you could deny those ranges in your .htaccess file. I'm not sure if Countries are bound to IP ranges.. but they must be somewhat otherwise AWStats wouldn't have its Country break-down.
Hmmm... found this site: IP Range - Ip Address Range Lookup - Ip Range Finder Choose whatever country from the drop-down to get it's list of IP ranges.
