Question Add-on domains

Right, so I have a domain, but decided I wanted a new one as well. However, I don't want to pay for two separate hosting plans. My plan dictates that I get ten add on domains. I'm not entirely sure what that means.

I've bought my new domain (godaddy) and swapped the nameservers over so they're the same as my current domain. I then listed it as an add on domain through cpanel.

Then I installed WordPress.

At the moment it's still showing the 'hi, this domain has been parked free of charge by GoDaddy blah blah' message.

Have I done something hideously wrong/have I completely missed the point/ or do I just have to wait for it to do its thing for a bit?

Thanks

Once you change the Name Servers with GoDaddy it can take anywhere from 2 - 48 hours before that information propogates to your ISP's Name Servers.

What I like to do when developing a site before DNS propogation has completed is to temporarily add the Domain Name and the new IP Address to my local host file. In Windows XP and Vista it is located at "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\host" (I'm still not sure about Windows 7). This will let my local browser know where to find the new site.

I was just about to suggest the same DNS propagation can be a pain, but you should be all set after 24 hours or so (be sure to clear all relevant cache)

if after that time you're still having issues, let us know

Let us know if you're still having any issues as it's more than enough time to allow for propagation.
