Post How many people in the forum here currently have a colo box?

Just curious - if you currently have a colo box, how about standing up and raising your hand

I'm curious how many current colo customers are here, and your thoughts on what a new colo customer should think about before colocating a box at Surpass...

guess not...? doesnt really make sense... costs less to get a dedicated and you get more bandwidth and so on with the dedi plan... and i cant believe i wrote this without any mistakes lol

That's what I've done up to this point.

But a $90 entry level colo pacakge is pretty appealing since I can send in a dual Xeon 1U server with triple 73 GB SCSI drives in a raid array and with 2 or 4 GB of memory... that would cost a pretty penny as a dedicated box, whereas the colo price per month is still just $90 with a one-time setup to buy the hardware. If you're in it for the long haul, it could be an attractive way to go (and if you need more muscle to serve dynamic content than bandwidth.)

I clicked on Dedicated and then the Colocation button. But maybe it's brand new?

I'm not sure about the bandwidth though compared to a dedicated package. It's a lot easier to get x GB per month and be able to utilize it at whatever rate up to 100 mbps port speed... I'm not sure if this is a way for me to go or not yet.

So I wonder if it's coming or going as an offering? If they're phasing it out, probably don't want to touch it if they've decided it's not the way they want to head or support. But if it's just coming and a brand new offering, might be a great time for me to get started with a colo box

The colo packages have been up for a while, you just have to hit dedicated and then colo. I haven't read anything about them being phased out, but the page doesn't seem to have changed much since the last time I saw it.
