Is it possible to host two domain names in one share hosting?

    Hi

Is it possible to host two domain names under one share hosting account? Ex: www.domain-name1.com and www.domain-name2.com

Yes, this is possible using 'Addon Domains' from within cPanel. However, both domains will be managed within the same cPanel account.

If you need a separate cPanel account for each, you will need to move to a reseller package or simply have multiple shared accounts.

The most typical set up is to have the main domain name run off of /public_html and the addon domain run off of /public_html/domain2.com.

However, I don't recommend this because it gets very unorganized when the main domain has a lot of files. T

he alternative would be to set the following structure:

    /public_html/domain1.com
    /public_html/domain2.com

This will keep files for each domain independent of each other. However, to get this set up you would need to set up a ticket so that we can change the Document Root of your main domain name.

If you change the Document Root of my main domain name, will there be any side effects to my current main domain website and later on?

If your scripts use any absolute server paths they would need to be updated, but other than that, everything should continue to operate the same once moved over properly

    /home/yourusername/public_html/some-script.php

Forums, blogs, and CMS systems use this alot.

And if you changed it, it would become /home/yourusername/public_html/domain1.com/some-script.php
