This is why it's important to backup your own stuff. You could of had it back in a few minutes and it would be current. The backup from surpass may be 1-2 weeks old.

Got a reply today after having paid 10 USD for the backup.

They told me backup was corrupted beyond the point of recovery.

How can that be?

Not a single backup?

I'm very disappointed...

Lost my forum..

Like I said above, this is why it is important to backup your own site. Users are responsible for their own backups, Surpass is not. Read the terms of service.

yes, but think about it, no backup was available to me.

There must be something said about Surpass here.

I'm not making a huge fuss. Just reality.

here's a thread that can help in the future.

automate mysql backups
Want to Backup your MySQL databases automagically?

there's also another thread in the forum that can be used to backup the entire homedirectory and set to fire off automatically. you'll have to poke around for that one a bit, but it's in here.

Reality is that Surpass is not responsible to back up your site. If something happens to the server and data is lost, they will do everything they can to restore it but the backup could be a few weeks old. I've known people in the past on other hosts that have lost their sites and the most recent backup they had was 3 months old.

I don't think anything bad can be said about Surpass here. You made the mistake and you didn't have a backup of your site. If you read your terms of service it states that users are responsbile to back up their own sites. This is true with most hosts.
