I don't seem to have a cool servername like "Bacon" or "Pass72" in my welcome e-mail.
there is a number fallowed by "dzinc.com".
is this my "nameserver information"?
If that IS it, then what do I do with it once I log on to
my "billing system" account and click on "my sites" and "my domains" as instructed?
There's a screen here that shows my domain name on the
left "americangawthrop.com" which I have obtained through the fine people Surpass.
it's fallowed by a question mark [?] and then time of creation
and expiration.
If I'm putting the server name in somewhere, I don't see where but that seems to be what the welcome e-mail wants me to do.

Yes, that's the nameservers. You'll need to log into your cpanel for your domain to change it (or if you bought it at Surpass, I think it gets set up automatically...or you can open a support ticket).

In the welcome email, it gives you t he address for cPanel, if you log in there on the left it now displays what server you are on. (The original thread here is a bit obsolete and I don't think Dave hosts here anymore so his script isn't available anymore.)

The welcome e-mail said ns2025.dzinc.com but the cpanel says sh132.

I'm going to assume sh132.

I should go to my forum profile and put that in.

Thanks CEO.

I still need the IP address to even get on the cpanel with seems to work fine,
my firefox can't find a server americangawthrop.com and it's been a couple days.
(course, I signed up on Christmas eve so that might not have even moved 'till monday.)

Anywho, should I be worried that the domain name and server don't know each other yet or
just figure it will take another day or two?

I hate to fill out a ticket needlessly.

Maybe I should just keep waiting.

ns2025.dzinc.com = DNS nameserver
sh132 = server's name

if you setup your DNS nameservers correctly within your domain panel, then they will link to your server. It varies how long it takes though. The IP address for your server should have been given to you within the welcome email?

Yes, it was.
as evidenced by my hopping on and off the cpanel.

I don't know if I set up the DNS nameservers correctly or not.
I couldn't find a field that would accept the name "ns2025.dzinc.com"
But it may have been done automatically as CEO suggested.

Would that be common?

Where did you purchase your domain name from?

Purchased through Surpass upon sigh-up.

I tried to change it on the "Billing System" log-in, see post #11.

Ah ok, I see. Then no they do not do anything automatically.

Alright when you log into the surpassdomains.com you will see a drop down menu at the top, click it and go to Manage domains. You will see a little box with your domain name is in it and three circles with letters, click on the M for manage. Along the left side in aqua blue are links, click on the one that says change nameservers. There is where you will put the nameservers given to you in the welcome email...Make sure that in "use" it says "cutsom nameservers" that is located in the drop down menu right above. Lastly click submit...

That is the correct way to edit your nameservers.
