For newcomers, I thought this might be some helpful information.

If you've just signed up, your account may not be set up. Account activation isn't immediate at this time, as Surpass now checks accounts before activating them to help prevent fraud and spam. It may take a few hours to get your account activated. Your patience is appreciated.

If you've gotten your Welcome Email from Surpass already, check it and find out which server you are on. Place that in your signature, along with your site address. This helps answer some questions a little easier, and when you have a problem with your site, you won't have to post your address and server info because it will come with you anyway.

Also, please remember that Surmunity is a user to user forum. Some of the Administrators at Surpass Hosting frequent these boards, but it is intended as a means to allow the users of Surpass to help each other. You can gain some great assistance around here, as this place is full of very helpful people in many different areas of web site development (from Operating Systems and Scripting Languages to Graphics and Software).

total newbie trying to figure stuff out, here... doing pretty well but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post what I'm trying to find at the moment... feel free to delete this (of course)

I think I'm supposed to be making a connection between my registered domain name and the server... well, some server... name server? but I can't send email to myself (from old comcast address to new minarchy one); Eudora's error message tells me that brianminarchist.net is not a valid address...

any clues for the clueless?

edit: woo! here it is...

from a welcome email:
If you ordered a new domain during the signup process, simply login to the billing system (see Billing System Login Information below) and select the "My Sites" menu at the top of the screen, and click on "My Domains". (followed by two DNS addresses)

click on "www.minarchist.net" in the list, click on "Change DNS", replace the two DNS addresses that were already there to the two in the email... done!

How long has your account been setup? In general it can take 24 hours for your domain to propagate but sometimes longer.

I assume you set up the email via cPanel and is showing fine there?

I don't use mine much. Mostly Gmail but someone else my come along who uses the mail more. Or you can have support at the help desk check it out for you too.

thanks Skip... no, my account is activated etc (and I knew that when I asked), the problem was user error, which I overcame by the arcane ritual of reading the welcome email and following the instructions...
