Email: Verifying CC info?

This morning I got an email asking me to change my CC info because it was declined for payment. The thing is, the CC is current (which is SCARY considering my # was on the email!) and there is plenty of money in the account (debit card), but it was sent to an email address that I do not use for Surpass!

Has anyone received an email like this?

First 4 and last 4 were. Normally a company will send correspondence with either or, not both. That makes me nervous! lol

It is fine if the first four and last four are sent in an email. That is far from having all 16 numbers. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

I've recently had a couple of emails from surpass/2checkout - same thing - loads of credit left on my CC but the email gave a insufficient funds code - checked with my CC company no attempt had been made by 2checkout to collect my payment and they confirmed that I was no where near my limit.

Looks that 2checkout or Surpass messed up.

Cheers

Neil

We do not send out any emails.

If you receive an email, it would be directly from 2checkout or PayPal, depending on what method you use to pay.

If you receive an email and have a question about it, please paste it into an email to billingsurpasshosting.com

As a side note I guess I should also mention that pretty soon we are going to start using ModernBill for all new customers and using our own merchant account. This of course arises from 2checkout's problems. We may continue to use PayPal for new transactions, but 2checkout definitely is having problems as of late and I am not surprised these things are happening, and can't really defend them at this point.

I checked the message header - it originated at 2checkout.com but with a from and a reply to of receiptssurpasshosting.com. I'll forward my previous emails in reply to billing. I obviously not happy that either 2checkout or surpass or both are messing up with CC billing.

Cheers

Again, we don't directly do CC billing. We have used 2checkout for 3 years to do so, they keep track of that and try to keep track on them. 2checkout sometimes does mess up, and there is no doubt about that really as I explained. The key thing here is will we suspend your account over a nonpayment? If you are communicating with us about the issue, whether you bring the issue to us, or if we contact you before a suspension, then everything will work out fine and a suspended site is nothing to worry about.
