Question about reseller/dedicated

I hope this is the right place to ask this question.

I'm sure this has been discussed too many times to count and you're all tired of explaining it again and again. I've looked through other threads and managed to come up with answers to some of my questions, but with others it just didn't click or didn't really apply to me. So hopefully you guys can help me out.

I'm currently hosted on a reseller plan. I want to know if switching to a dedicated server is ideal for my situation. I've come to the conclusion that a dedicated is basically a bigger reseller account that allows you to sell resellers. However, I'm not currently a hosting company so I don't really have any need to sell resellers.

The thing is, I own a lot of sites and a couple are really big. I have about three sites planned, and I predict them to be fairly big as well (they're forums and fansites), but they haven't been opened yet so I don't really have anything to base that theory on. My biggest concern is a site that is currently open, that is using close to 100GB monthly bandwidth and is hanging by a thread now at 94% used. This site continues to grow month after month (it started August '04 using less than 10GB and last month used around 80GB). I'm currently hosted on the Plasma plan and was considering upgrading to Platinum for June.

I was calculating about how much bandwidth each site was most likely going to end up using and the Platinum plan would fit my needs. However, the $69/month price tag was a bit of an eek factor because let's face it: I am a college student and I do have other bills to pay. Then I stumbled upon the dedicated server page and got into reading about those. I do have a lot of people ask me about hosting and I usually refer them to Surpass, because it's not like I can host them on the current plan I am using. Then some come back with the "Well I don't have a credit card" reply, and what can you do, you know?

So I got to thinking last night and thought about actually opening up a mini-hosting company. Nothing big and bad or anything. I figure if that works out, it can help with some of the monthly costs. I was thinking about the Celeron with single storage with $70 monthly price tag and $150 setup plus the cpanel/whm. I'm fairly certain I won't need anything bigger than that since I'm not out to take over a portion of the internet or anything. Do you think this would fit what I'm looking for? Or should I try something else? Stick to a reseller?

A huge thanks in advance to anyone who cared enough to read through my babbling.

Once you go dedicated, you never go back Remember its $70 + $30 monthly (cPanel license is $30)
