One day my site was there, now it's not.
Forgive me if this is ridiculous: my talents aren't in the technical field.
I signed up for a hosting account with Surpass in April 2004. At the time, my IP was 66.194.238.158 . My domain was hosted with another company. Around April of this year, I switched the domain to GoDaddy.com. I updated the name servers there. The website was still up and working, I had no problems with FTP and my email was coming through fine. In June, I ceased getting emails from this domain. Now I can't pull up the website at all and I had trouble getting into my FTP account. I couldn't get in with the former IP, but tonight I was able to get into my Cpanel for this site and it listed a new IP (72.29.75.171) and I was able to access my ftp through that. All my files are still there. But when I type the IP into a browser, my site doesn't come up. I don't know what to do to get this stuff working again. If you can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I need that website to work soon! |

Your typing the IP in? Have you tried your domain name (domain.com) to see if it comes up. If that is not a static IP I think it only goes to the server hosting your domain.

To get to your site via the ip address, you'll have to do it as: 72.29.75.171/~accountname
what is your site url?

I just got a reply from Eman at the helpdesk about a DNS server change. I think that might be my problem but I have to wait for it to resolve before I can figure that out. |

Yes, you still have it set to the old name servers. I figured that's what it was, but wanted to check to make sure.
It's simple with godaddy. Just log into your account, and go to the "manage your domains" section. You'll have to switch your name servers for your domain from ns100.dizinc.com ns101.dizinc.com to ns594.dizinc.com ns595.dizinc.com It can take up to 72 hours for them to resolve, but usually go faster. Make sure you lock your domain when you are done changing these settings.
