Yeah, I know what it is. I use it when I'm too lazy to launch Sound Forge. What I was posting it for was because it will encode the file to be streamable on a server.

hey ggg going over your post's here I think you need to do your homework more and expect to pay quite a bit, you'll save hundred's of dollars by just taping, encoding then uploading the static files to be downloaded.
well its mostly from one of your post's Quote:
or with the static you only really need bandwidth, spending like $30 bucks a month Another streaming server to check out is vlc or vls depending upon your needs

I'm really happy that people are looking into this sort of web service. NPR just did a bit today about how all of the big entertainment companies are scared because the entertainment industry is experiencing a big technological shift. They compared it to being in a horse and buggy mentality when automobiles are being created. Good luck to you ggg. Oops, was I supposed to keep the fact that I listen to NPR a secret? :-)

Hi guys, thanks to all and sorry for delay.
Thank you, David, for your suggestion. RealProducer Basic is for private use only. Thank you anyway. Travis, it seems you are quite experienced. I appreciate your help. > hey ggg going over your post's here I think you need to do your homework > more and expect to pay quite a bit, you'll save hundred's of dollars by just > taping, encoding then uploading the static files to be downloaded. Perhaps you are right. I am sure you are, but the idea is to have the shows streamed on demand. They will be recorded and saved as files, then transferred to server and later streamed upon request. Possibly some media (reportages) will be encoded in other formats and in such a case it must be re-converted. There are no plans to cover many different formats. The main video format would be H.264. I didn't know that VLC can stream. Unfortunately the H264 codec is in experimental state. Thank you sacjeanie. |
