Is the domain registered through Surpass? Well, no matter where it's registered, generally you simply change the whois data to reflect your friend's info instead of yours and disable any sort of auto-renew you have set up. This way, when it comes time to renew, he/she will receive an email reminding him/her to renew the domain and he/she will have to re-enter the payment information. The specifics will differ depending on where it is registered but it seems this is the easiest way to make it happen.

What Jamie said. Additionally, you will need to move the domain into your friend's Surpass Domains (or other registrar) account, so that when it is time to renew, he/she can actually access the domain (which won't be possible if it's still in your account). This will also allow your friend to make any necessary DNS changes, etc.
