Mac Email setup

Hi, I've had my hosting for a while now, but just now put up a site and set up my email. I've got my email working fine on Outlook on my PC, and I *thought* it was working fine on my Powerbook as well, but it won't send out mail... it only receives incoming mail. I'm using the default Mac "Mail" program.

It keeps timing out and giving me the following error when I try to send an email:

Quote:
Message delivery failed

The connection to the server “mail.xxxxxxxx.com” on port 25 timed out.

You can try to send using a different server. All messages will use this server until you quit or change your network settings.
Any help would be appreciated. I've tried it both with and without password authentication. I've tried my username with a "+" with an "" with a ":"... but I wouldn't think that would be the problem seeing as how I'm only having trouble *sending* mail but not receiving it.

For the SMTP server, try putting the IP address of the server instead of mail.domain.com then let me know if that works out.

Some ISPs block port 25, you can try port 26 and try your ISP's SMTP servers.

How do I get the IP of the SMTP server, Kayla? I mean... I'm assuming it's not the same IP as my domain... or is it?... cause I tried that, and it didn't work.

Also, I'll try port 26, tch3. Thanks. I did read that many ISPs block port 25 on account of spam.

Okay, that worked.

Thank you much, guys. I appreciate your help.

P.S. The emoticons here rule, so here's a high five for the both of you:

I believe she meant the ip address of the server you are on. So yeah, what she suggested didn't work. But I see you got it fixed. Good deal/
