Forum Software
Hiya
I have had a site with surpass for a while now, and just started a new one for my parents. Basically, i went to install Invision or vbulletin forum software and they werent options. I'm liking the phpbb software but it's missing 1 ESSENTIAL piece... and that's the ability to upload photos/etc. Anybody have experience enough with phpbb to know if there's a sound way to 'add' that ability? Also, has surpass simply stopped support of invision and vbulletin? I'm concerned with just going ahead and installing vbulletin because i would like to better understand why it's not available through the fancy cpanel installer. Anyways, just curious about options... ![]() |

It's not surpass that this is an issue with, it's Fantastico. As far as I know, they have never had VB as an option, and Invision was removed earlier this year when they went to strickly payware.
As for the phpbb upload ability, you'll have to look into hacks for it. Keep in mind though, that if you hack it than you will have to rehack it each time you update the software (which should be done immediately as soon as an update is available). http://phpbbhacks.com/

I guess Fantastico must be new because i had installed Invision somehow through cpanel in the past. I see some nicely designed photo album hacks for it. Has anybody used one of those themselves? |

I don't use PHPBB (not a fan, I prefer punbb), so I've never used any of them.
Invision used to be in both CPanel and Fantastico, but since they went payware they had to remove it...and I had to buy a license to get the new version. It is still actually available in Cpanel (not for users to install though), but it's a 1.* version that is very outdated.

I have used the attachment mod for phpbb forums in the past. It, along with the wuick reply mod, are things that I install by default on a fresh phpbb installation
