site suspended for mySQL calls
very upset, friend has account on here as my recommendation he has only Vbulletin running on this site and has ahad his account suspended because of mySQL calls overloading the server. I mean come on could you not have contacted him, worked out the problem something. Even notified him that this is a problem, he had no idea!!!!!!He has a member base of over a 1000 and a suspended site, this can be detremental.
http://mytractorforum.com is the site. What is up? Why could this have not been handled differently?

When a site is suspended, this is done so that the rest of the server does not to continue to feel the negative effects of whatever the problem is. If the site was left on, then the server would still be going slow, and many other customers would be complaining because of that site. You should contact support about this, they will work on getting it unsuspended, and finding out if you might need to upgrade to a dedicated server, vps, or something like that.

Whoa, and you think they could have contacted him, since only 2 people as I understand are able to suspend/unsuspend accounts this is going to be timely to him. I think the jump to dedicated is a bit harsh as most crashes of MySQL are caused by corrupted index / data files. He could have ran the myisamchk utility to optimize the tables ahd he known but he is still learning and did not know this.
He can't even acces his cpanel to move or fix this, wasn't told his account was causing a problem, not even after suspension. Hehad to contact support to find out why. I mean he is a paying customer as well as the rest of the people on the server. A little respect and say "sorry we had a problem with your account, had to suspend, due to MYSql, please contact us." You know!!!!!!

The suspension page does in fact say contact billing for more info. As Dewknight said, the account is suspended to rectify any issue that is on the server. I don't want to sound mean, but no where does our TOS or AUP say that if you break our rules we will let you know. I know that might have sounded mean, but I didn't mean it in any mean way. We have many clients... it would really waste time contacting each abusive account about their issue. It would just use to many man hours. Yes, he's a paying customer, but if he wishes to reinstate his service he needs to follow up on it, not us follow up on him... I understand your frustration... and I appreciate that you recommended us. We do work with any user suspended to get them back up and running. None the less, his account was suspended and in order to get it back up he will need to get in touch with the abuse team. I appologize for this ordeal and I hope you get things worked out. |

hi it is my site that was suspended...
and i do take some responsibility as i do not know much about MySql, but ive been working with the support team here for the past week. (my sites been up and down for 7 days now) I was told 2 days ago that they had to repair the database and all would be fine... After the site went down 8 more times and after i constantly asked support what was going on... Today at 10:00 am i get the message On my site saying my site is suspended and to contact the billing department. Also all of the members of my forum think i have not paid my hosting bill as that is what the message indicates. That is wrong. BTW: i have followed up on it. Ive been following up on it. ive followed up about 25 times in the past week. Ive gotten no where since the 'suspended site' except a message saying this: 2.5 hours ago Quote:
I did not know my sql calls were causing a problem, members going to my site think i have not paid my bills. And of course, seeing as my site is suspended, my email no longer works either so folks can not contact me... How long does this generally take? and if they suspend an acct due to an SQL issue the site should reflect that, not indicate i have not paid my hosting bills. www.mytractorforum.com Does that sound like an SQL call issue or an issue with my not paying my host fees? |

Jesse, your answer is not mean and I don't take it that way, the person has contacted support and has been waiting to get this fixed, he is upset cause he did not want to cause any problems on your server, he just wanted to know what caused the trouble and how he can fix it. If he had installed a script or broke the rules that way I would be like well you asked for it, but sometimes we (imperfect beings) foul up without meaning to.
I don't expect you to hire extra people to do the contact thing, and understand the man hours, although I have a reseller account and WHM, funny I can contact or suspend in the same easy click, and on the same page, so pardon if I don't think it would be a simple process, not mandatory but a great way to get applauded for superb customer support. I really hate the idea that if one of my sites pull an extra load my only warning will be "Suspension"! Talk about bad business!! Quote:
answering the ticket, forwarding the ticket, figuring out the ticket, re-entering WHM, unsuspending the ticket. I guess I measure time differently, I would try to resolve before I clicked the "Suspend Account" but you are not me and for that I am thankful... He contacted the desk early this am, still no answer as he waits!!!

My site is suspended too, and I don't know why
"Today at 10:00 am i get the message On my site saying my site is suspended and to contact the billing department. Also all of the members of my forum think i have not paid my hosting bill as that is what the message indicates. That is wrong.
BTW: i have followed up on it. Ive been following up on it. ive followed up about 25 times in the past week. " Funny, the same thing is happening to me. For the past three days, my site has been up and down. I'm gettign phone calls from regular readers wanting to know what the problem is. And today, at about 8:30 a.m., my get the same site suspended message. And NO ONE from the company will respond to a trouble ticket. This isn't good service as I understand the term. |
