How do I access my website?

Hi!

Brand new at this so I hope you bare with me.

I have a resellers account and I have changed the DNS but before that propogates or what it's called in English, how can I access my main website?

I've uploaded all my files on FTP so I know that they are on the server, and if I log in to Cpanel they are very well there but how do I actually view the website before I can use the domainname?

Thanks for any help!

Well, you can access your site one of three ways (third may only be with Windows).

The first, using the server IP. eg: http://###.###.###.###/~username/
The second, using the servername. eg: http://server.surpasshosting.com/~username/
Some servers with surpass use dimenoc: eg http://server.dimenoc.net/~username/

And the third would be to edit your hosts file in Windows.

The location may vary on different versions of Windows, but with Window XP it's located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
In there you're find a file called 'hosts' (no extention). Open that in Notepad or Wordpad (better with Wordpad) and use the examples to allow your domain to work beforehand.

If you do the hosts method, I recommend you delete the entry you add once your domain is propagating.
