web address STILL not working?

mkay. So recently the company i am working for purchased http://skylighthomes.com, I only had the IP url address for a couple days before it went into the normal url.

They recently bought http://skyhomeinspections.com, and it's been about two weeks. Ive changed the DNS to what i got on the email, & all the passwords and everything as I did on the last one. Only "http://72.29.92.190/~skyhome/ " works. Could it be because i have different emails on my accounts? I have no idea whats taking so long, Help?

Ok.. Are you saying that originally the account was set up using the skylighthomes.com domain, and now they purchased another domain that they want to use on the account? Have you set up the new domain as an addon domain in cPanel yet? Or, if you would like this to be the new main domain, you need to have support change it (there is a fee for this)

It was registered as SKYHOMEINSPECTION.COM
and not SKYHOMEINSPECTIONs.COM ~~ plural

Drop the S in your WHM domain name or register the plural name.

Its purchased it under the same surpass account as the other. It has its own C-panel and all though. It's just a different domain, for one of the people that owns the company.

Since our WHM is not configured to allow editing an account, I would, after you know you have all your files locally, rename the skyhome directory, remove the addon domain and then terminate completely the "S" account.

You then can create a new account with the correct domain name and still keep your original username and password. Add the new addon domain back, delete the new skyhome directory and rename the old skyhome directory back to skyhome.

All should then work immediatly because the name is already resolved.

so basically in 15 yearold girl lingo, just delete the domain on surpassdomains.com so it matches the name of the one thats hosted?

and if this is, not how im thinking, on surpass hosting, i have no idea how to rename a directory, and i'm sorry that you might be getting impatient with me. Okay so do i do this on the cpanel or the file manager... :X or on surpass domains... or...heh

You cannot change the domain name you registered as skyhomeinspection.com to skyhomeinspections.com.

If you have to have an address of skyhomeinspections.com you will have to register and pay for it as another domain. the have's have it!

Or,

you can use the domain skyhomeinspection.com, (that is already registered), instead, by adding it to your skylighthomes.com and removing references to skyhomeinspections.com.

Quick question first.
  1. Have you already tried to do an addon domain for the skyhomesinspections.com to your skylighthomes.com, or,
  2. Have you setup a new account in WHM for skyhomeinspections.com, or
  3. are you just linking to a folder as in the bottom button on your skylighthomes.com page?
What/where do you want skyhomeinspection.com to go when entered into a browser window?
