You mean you don't optimize yours for fun? And I thought I knew you...

Yours won't take nearly as long as Fern's does. Fern runs something similar to MySpace but better because it's his and doesn't allow people to make god awful looking pages...well, they still try but don't get as far thankfully.

As for optimizing, all you have to do is go to PHPMyAdmin, choose the database, click Check All and select "Optimize Table". But if you aren't even going to be using the forum, don't worry about it.

And I have no idea what this is. It just amused me one day so I saved it. It's in my collection of 1000+ avatars.

lmaoo.. notes 30 days old are deleted on a daily basis through a cron job. I used to have it configured to optimize right after, but the problem with that was when the site began to grow, it would render the site useless for 5-15 minutes performing this optimize. So it no longer does the optimize automatically. About 50 MB of notes are cleared out every night when it performs the 30 day old delete.

Yeah it wouldn't take long for you rice.

The table I'm talking about optimizing is over 1 Gigabyte in filesize.

Great Scotts! 1 gig for just the pm table? Out of curiosity, how big is the entire database?

Currently, over 5G. The bulk of it is Tagboard, Notes, and Forum Posts, which are about 5G by themselves. And I'm planning on converting most of the tables to InnoDB from MyISAM.

When I had converted the Users table from MyISAM to InnoDB, it was roughly 4 times larger.
