Setting a static pixel size for text is usually another bad idea, because most people tend to set it too small, which makes it obnoxious for people who are reading it on large resolutions, or with sight problems. Of course, as SnakeMan and cowsource said, you can always override it by using ctrl++
And yeah, Google is a great resource, you should start using it.

Well, in most cases, people will look at it with the Medium font setting, since that's the default. Not many people change the font on a site unless they have to, i.e. if they can't read it. I know, for example, my grandparents have to have all sites on the Largest font because of sight problems. And those people probably realize that they are distorting the way the site should look. Stop worrying so much about what other people might think.
