Forums take at least 6 months of near full-time dedication to get off the ground, unless it just naturaly fits with the topic/site. I don't know how much of a market your site has to reach, but you have to promote it to those people. Try to affiliate with medical sites that may provide links and resources to people looking up the disease.
You're dealing with a small market volume and expecting they'll have interest to join an online community. Small volume = small userbase = low posting. Keep the number of categories down. I've already mentioned an alternative to using a forum altogether. Pizzicar also has some very good ideas in there as well. One other thing... you may want to promote the forum in more places to encourage discussion. |

there are only two doctors on this planet that understand celiac disease.... the rest from what i heard do not give the right info...... that is not the problem, as I surley know much better then any doctor this disease.... remember i live it, they study it... no one knows it better then one who lives it.. especially when you' v lived it form all your life. The problem is (and, im almost sure about it).. is that most of them go on the french forums of the assocciations.. so mayeb they'r not coming around as much. But, they will cuz im pretty much the only pro in this province. Sorry for bragging but, im speaking the truth.

^^ most doctors mis-diagnose patients thinking that they just have irritable bowel syndrome when they actually have celiac disease. The reason why so many doctors don't know or specialize in the field is because the cause of the disease is still being researched. Right now they believe that it is probably hereditary and that someone can develop the disease when they eat something with gluten in it.

Open an online shop that sells books related to the disease and provide more useful links and articles gained from intensive, INTENSIVE, web research and maybe library research. Put things on the site that they wouldn't be able to find anywhere else.
