how to prevent people from seeing your files

how can you do this? i made my page and one of my friends hacked right in and saw tons of my private photos i was like how did u do that! anyone know how to prevent that from happening?

Use cPanel to password protect a directory that you don't want anybody to have access to.

ok but this is a membership site so when they sign up and enter my page there able to access my pics right? i just dont want people seeing my files without being a member first ya know

you should be able to NOT put them in a public folder, and let PHP or any other server side language with a login check display them (as php CAN read from non-public folders)

Also you could try a post-order company (joke (A))
Or you could try not putting them online (serious joke :P)

just make a INDEX.HTML file and drop it in a folder.

It works for me.

Log into CPanel. Visit the Index Manager.

Index Manager
The index manager will allow you to turn indexes on or off for a directory. If indexes are off, people will not be able to see what files are in a directory that lacks an index file.
