Hello!
We bought our first web hosting package back at the tail-end of April 2003 for about $24 for the year. As we have about 6 clients plus our own two sites, we figured we'd come in slowly as we want to experience surpasshosting.com, noting the pro's and the con's, before we do any plopping of all sites here. In July, we brought one more client to surpasshosting for the same price. This past week, we discussed moving another client. So today I went to the site to do another 24 dollar sign-up and to get the costs for ssl as that's another add-in needed for the first site and third one. I looked and looked. No 24 dollar package could be found. So, no sign-up done. I searched the forum here and found one post from an admin saying in May 2003 that prices wouldn't increase. So now I'm really confused and need to report back this next week on our next steps. Lots of questions floating in my head: Where did the 24 dollar package go? Why weren't we notified of a price increase? So now our renewal price for next year is $40? Why did that admin say on this board in May that there would be no price increases? Not trying to be naggy. Just got off guard and surprised. Upset our plans to move another account here and now have to debried internals on the change I found. sooo, thanks for all the quick help you have always given...happy holidays... and will talk to you later! |

Well, the price increase went into effect a month or two ago. It was deemed necessary from what I understand in order for the company to grow.
If you have multiple clients to host, I highly recommend the reseller packages. They are much more robust for what you need, and you should find them to come out cheaper than the $24/year you previously had...

He means the Learner plan... there is an announcement on this board somewhere about how not many people signed up for it and we needed to drop the plan.
We didn't really have a price increase. We just don't have the Learner. If you aren't comfortable with choosing a new plan, you can keep the Learner. But new plans will have to be ones from our current plans (which aren't changing).

Thanks for the replies.
As I'm going to have to report back on this at a staff meet next week, can you tell me what the specs were for the Learner package? I'm sure I'll be asked. I'll grab the specs for the $40 per year package off the site. Not sure how to explain that there's another package a step up for .48 cents more per month. Kinda odd. But oh well. Will also grab reseller package info, but like I said earlier, there's hesistancy internally to do a complete move of all domains from our current ISP. Some "burn" situations in the past created this walk slowly behavior. I'm surprised that starter package didn't attract people. Should have yelled. We could have gotten lots of people to sign up for it if we had known it was in jeopardy. Spilt milk. Just a thought for the future. So, I can report that we can keep the two sites at the same Learner package price when renewal comes around, yes? double-double checking. And no price increases are in sight for the next year? Again, as so much is involved in moving sites, no one wants to do it and then find out we're back at the prices we have at OLM, the primary web hosting company we use. Thanks again! |

Back again, after doing a quick skim of reseller package.
Noticed that at: http://www.surpasshosting.com/?x=resellerplans there is no mention of awstats package although webalizer stats is listed twice. Possible that awstats was suppose to be listed? Also noticed no mention in features of ssl or ssh ?? Thanks again. |
