Custom Nameserver question
I just signed up with Surpass. I want to use custom nameserver - ns1.mysite.com & ns2.mysite.com. My registrar requires IP addresses for registering new nameservers. My activation email only gives me domain names for Nameservers -- ns****.dizinc.com.
Question is do I need to submit a help ticket to get IP addresses or is there another way to locate IP addresses? |

Usually that welcome email will include the information for the custom nameservers (if you signed up for a reseller account).... You may need to submit a ticket to get the IP's to use

webgeek - the IPs you use are the same two IPs that the dizinc.com IPs use.. this should be in the welcome email as Dew suggested.

Thanks Kayla... My welcome letter only had domain names - not IPs... I put in a ticket and HelpDesk emailed me the IPs... I had also gone to DIG DNS lookup and found the IPs from the domain names. My registrar (RegistryFly.com) required IPs (not domain name) for setting up new custom nameservers. I plugged in my IPs and should be set for ns1.rwrwebhosting.com & ns2.rwrwebhosting.com - now just waiting for propagation. Next task is to set up new hosting website. Thanks for reply!

That's odd, I will check out the email. It is our luck something disappeared from the template during the time you signed up.

Kayla - not a big deal on my end - got it resolved...
I was given my IP address (just the one) in welcome letter... but for Nameserver was just given: NAMESERVER INFORMATION: ======================= For your domain name to work with your new hosting account you will need to change the name server addresses which your domain is assigned to. If you are not sure how to perform this update, contact the company your domain is registered through. If you ordered a new domain during the signup process, simply login to the billing system (see Billing System Login Information below) and select the "My Sites" menu at the top of the screen, and click on "My Domains". ns****.dizinc.com ns****.dizinc.com _____________ If I was just "updating" my nameserver I could've used the domain names provided... it was because I was creating a NEW custom nameserver that my registrar needed the IPs... Helpdesk was quick in their response and all is working fine. Thanks! Bob |
