Name Server question...

Looks like my site is ready to go. I updated name server info about 4 hours ago....here at work after about 2 hours I am being redirected to the new SH site....but I just spoke to a couple other users for our site and they are still being sent to the old host.

Is this normal and I just need to be alittle more patient.....

It can take up to 48 hours for all isp's to update their records and show the new site. I've seen qwest take the longest here, 73 hours sometimes.

Yeah, when I changed my DNS records to point to Surpass, I saw the change in like 5 minutes.. freaked me out it was that quick. I think a lot depends on where your domain name is registered (mine happens to be with Network Solutions) and who your ISP is. At the time I was with Cox Cable at home and was connected to SBC's backbone at work.

I have also seen it work and then quit working, and work again.. when an ISP's name servers don't have the same information yet and so you get the right IP address one minute and the wrong one the next. Anyway, I'm babbling...

Good babbling though! You summed up just about everything there and very easy to understand.
