I got a domain and hosting, now what?

I recently purchased my first domain at namecheap and hosting from Surpass. I have no idea how to set up my account. Anyone can help?

Sure thing...

1) Have you received your welcome email from surpass yet? if yes proceed...

2) In your welcome email you will notice a section including your nameservers... it may look something like this (for reference):

Code:
Please make sure the DNS for your domain name are set to:

ns1026.dizinc.com
resolves to IP 72.29.89.98

ns1027.dizinc.com
resolves to IP 72.29.89.99
The text in bold above are your nameservers.

3) Next, login to namecheap and go to the area where you can edit your domain preferences. Your Registrar "namecheap" has a video tutorial that will guide you through this process found here: http://namecheap.simplekb.com/kb.asp...&categoryid=23

4) After you have completed step 3 you may need to wait anywhere from 3 hours to 3 days for your ISP to Acknowledge your website's new Location. However, some ISPs recognize the change almost instantaneously so it is always good to check your domain name often.

Brandon, you left out the #5 and 6, the most important after getting set up [1-4].

#5 spend the rest of you life, modifying and uploading your site [I like nVu at http://www.nvu.com - use File>Publish] pages.

#6 most important -- profit!!!

Number 3 is profit.

The others will just have to give up their spots

Dew,

How very true.

Before Surpass I think my hosting was like 2.5x with much less.

Also years ago was with NetSol for a registrar and found GoDaddy in its early days.
Now I wonder about that with latest antics that are in the news.
