This may be a bit premature, so I apologize in advance if it is ;-)

I got my prev. host to initiate a DNS change in the wee hours of Thurs. morning. I've read that DNS propagation takes 24-72 hours. Well, we're coming up on 72 hours.

Assuming that they did their part what steps should I take assuming that propagation has not gone thru when I wake up tomorrow morning? Is propagation a totally automated process, or is their some lazy bum who just hasn't gotten around to pushing a button to switch the IP on my domain?

Thx. (BTW, the domain is contractorpeon.com)

Well, I look at the whois records, and the DNS for the domain, and the DNS matches the whois. Here is what the answer was:

;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
contractorpeon.com. 3600 IN NS ns2.dnsjunction.com.
contractorpeon.com. 3600 IN NS ns1.dnsjunction.com.

It means the DNS is not pointing to our servers and that your host did not do the DNS change for you. You should have received the nameservers in a welcome email from us. Those are what need to be entered as nameservers where ever you registered your domain at.
